Why the Swine Flu is Considered So Dangerous?

The swine flu results from a new mutation of known viruses that can be found in man, pigs and birds. This new virus seems to have a genetic code that is made from bits of the viruses from each of the three species, which makes this new strain very dangerous.

The severity of the swine flu is evidenced by the relatively high number of deaths recorded so far (around 9% at the time of writing) and the fact that young people also succumb to this flu, which is highly unusual. For these reasons, doctors and scientists worldwide agree that the risk of a lethal pandemic is very high.

Swine Flue is treatable, but prevention is better

On the positive side, swine flu is treatable. It's resistant to two of four antiviral drugs approved for combating the flu: Symmetrel and Flumadine. But two newer antiviral drugs: Tamiflu and Relenza  appear to work.

It becomes even more dangerous if you start taking the anti-viral drugs while not being sick. By the time you catch the flu virus, the real thing, chances are the treatment will not be very effective anymore. This has probably something to do with the fact that you trained your body to get rid of the anti-viral drugs.

Is Swine Flue going to be the next Spanish Flu?

Currently, labs all over the world are mapping the genome of this new swine flu virus. You can call it fear mongering but some scientists are warning that this could be only the frontrunner of another "big" one, like the Spanish flu, that killed over 100 million people around the world in 1918 and 1919.

Swine Flu virus doesn’t spread through pork

The swine flu virus will not be caught by eating pork so there is no risk of infection from consumption of well-cooked pork and pork products. The World Health Organization recommends washing your hands thoroughly with soap and water on a regular basis and to seek medical attention if you develop any symptoms of influenza-like illness.

Tips To Prevent Swine Flu

The following tips may not protect you 100% from the swine flu but they will give you an extra layer of protection.

  • Wash your hands frequently and before touching your face for at least 30 seconds with soap and water.

  • Keep yourself in good health. A healthy body is less prone to stress so you will be less prone to illness.

  • Limit your contact with sick people. If you need to be in contact with them, wear a mask of type N95 or better.

  • Avoid large crowds because you never know who has what and where they have been. Create a bacteria or virus free environment with essential oils.

  • Cough or sneeze into a tissue and throw it away immediately. If you don’t have one handy, use your arm and not your hands.

Reduce the Risk Of Swine Flu with Aromatherapy Diffuser

Research has shown that essential oils can kill bacteria and viruses. The aromatherapy diffuser uses ultrasound to diffuse the scented essential oil into the water filled diffuser resulting in the release of mist into your living space and working environment.
